Zacharia Ogeka Gechanga is a Senior Associate and Head of the Real Estate, Banking & Finance Department. He brings a strong combination of legal expertise and commercial insight to real estate, banking, and project development transactions.
In his current capacity as a Senior Associate and Head of Real Estate, Banking & Finance, Ogeka provides strategic leadership and oversight to the department. He is responsible for managing key client relationships, driving innovation in transactional delivery, and ensuring the firm maintains the highest standards of legal service in property and finance matters for its high-profile Banking institutions and individual clients.
He also serves as External Counsel to one of the region’s leading telecommunication companies, where he oversees and manages an extensive property portfolio. In this role, Ogeka provides comprehensive advisory support on property acquisitions, leases, and regulatory compliance. His approach integrates risk management with practical, commercially viable solutions that advance the client’s operational and strategic interests.
Through his leadership, the firm has strengthened its presence in the real estate and banking sectors, offering clients tailored solutions grounded in sound legal principles and business awareness.
Prior to his current responsibilities, Ogeka served in the firm’s Litigation team, gaining experience across succession matters, banking law, commercial law, and employment law. This broad base allows him to provide holistic advice that addresses both legal and commercial dimensions of his clients’ needs.
Ogeka has previously served as a secretariat member attached to the Dispute Resolution Committee, led by Chairperson Mr. Ken Ogeto, within the Office of the Legal Advisor to the Executive Office of the President. In this capacity, he supported the Committee in handling and facilitating dispute resolutions assigned under its mandate, demonstrating his strong analytical skills, discretion, and commitment to effective conflict management within high-level government frameworks.
